Efficacy Testing Methodology

Our Commitment to Performance and Transparency

At Heritage Park Laundry Essentials, we are committed to producing high-performance, safe, and effective cleaning products. To verify the performance of our laundry detergents, we conduct rigorous efficacy testing using industry-standard procedures that are consistent across all formulas.

Independent Third-Party Testing

Heritage Park formulas undergo comprehensive evaluation by independent, accredited testing laboratories to ensure objective performance verification.

Soil Re-Deposition Testing

One of the most important measures of detergent quality is its ability to prevent soil re-deposition — the re-attachment of dirt and grime back onto fabrics during the wash cycle. Poor soil re-deposition performance causes clothes to appear dingy or gray over time.

Testing Method:

Our products are evaluated using HCPA DCC-14 methodology, an industry-recognized standard for measuring soil re-deposition on multiple fabric types.

Test Conditions:

  • Water temperature: 60°F (cool water washing)
  • Water hardness: 120 ppm (moderately hard water, typical of many U.S. households)
  • Fabric types tested: Cotton, Cotton/Polyester blend, and Polyester
  • Multiple wash cycles to simulate real-world use

Performance Metrics:

Results are measured using Delta E color difference values, which quantify visible changes in fabric appearance. Lower Delta E values indicate better performance (less soil re-deposition and fabric discoloration).

Recent Test Results

Independent laboratory testing completed in October 2025 compared Heritage Park detergents against leading national detergent brands with EPA Safer Choice certification.

Key Findings:

Lower numbers indicate better performance — less soil re-deposition and cleaner fabrics.

Detergent Products Cotton Cotton / Polyester Polyester Overall Average
Heritage Park Silk & Wool 0.61 0.33 0.41 0.45
Heritage Park All-Purpose 0.67 0.54 0.35 0.52
Leading National Brand A (Delicates Formula) 1.05 0.49 0.41 0.65
Leading National Brand B (All-Purpose with Enzymes) 0.94 0.62 0.28 0.61

What These Results Mean:

All products tested demonstrated excellent soil re-deposition prevention. Delta E values below 1.0 are not perceptible to the naked eye, indicating that all four detergents performed comparably in preventing dirt and grime from reattaching to fabrics during washing.

Differences greater than 2.0 Delta E units indicate visible performance differences. Since all tested products scored well below this threshold, consumers can expect similar soil re-deposition prevention from Heritage Park detergents and leading national detergent brands.

The Heritage Park Advantage:

While laboratory testing confirms that Heritage Park delivers comparable cleaning performance to established national brands, Heritage Park offers additional benefits that set us apart: dual EWG VERIFIED™ and EPA Safer Choice certifications, hypoallergenic formulas tested on sensitive skin, and transparent ingredient disclosure — all at a competitive price point.

What This Means:

Heritage Park detergents demonstrated excellent soil re-deposition prevention performance comparable to leading national detergent brands across all fabric types tested. All Delta E values remained well below the threshold for visible difference (2.0), confirming effective soil re-deposition prevention across all products tested.

Internal Performance Testing

In addition to third-party validation, each Heritage Park detergent formula undergoes standardized internal efficacy evaluation.

Our Testing Protocol

Products are tested against common household stains, including:

  • Body oil and sebum
  • Food grease and cooking oils
  • Red wine
  • Dirt and mud
  • Grass stains
  • Coffee and tea

Swatches made from cotton and synthetic fabrics are pre-treated (when applicable) and washed using standard HE washing machine cycles with warm or cold water, depending on the target application.

Products Tested

Our testing protocols apply to all Heritage Park detergents, including:

  • All-Purpose Laundry Detergents (Fragrance-Free and Scented varieties)
  • Silk & Wool Laundry Detergents (Fragrance-Free and Scented varieties)
  • Activewear Laundry Detergent

Comparison Standards

Performance is benchmarked against leading national premium-brand detergents. Side-by-side stain removal is assessed using visual scoring and reflectance measurement methods.

Our Performance Guarantee

All Heritage Park detergents demonstrate effective stain removal and soil re-deposition prevention across a wide range of fabric and stain types. Independent and internal testing consistently show results comparable to other premium detergents, confirming that Heritage Park delivers the cleaning performance consumers expect — with the added benefit of superior safety certifications and transparent ingredient disclosure.

Testing Transparency

Complete test reports, including detailed methodologies, materials, equipment specifications, and raw data, are available upon request for third-party review or regulatory compliance.
