This article compares two luxury Laundry Detergents -- Heritage Park All Purpose Detergent and Le Blanc Linen Wash -- and evaluates them on multiple criteria including effectiveness, cost, versatility, environmental friendliness, and more.
Choosing a luxury laundry detergent is a great way to extend the life and performance of your fine washables. Whether you are washing towels, antique linens with lace, clothing, duvet cover or a sheet set, we always recommend using a product formulated to clean tough stains effectively while protecting the integrity and beauty of delicate fabrics (regular detergents are just too harsh). An all-purpose luxury liquid laundry detergent* is the ideal choice. But you want to make sure that the detergent you choose truly meets your laundry needs.
Today we'll take a look at two well-known luxury laundry detergents: Heritage Park Luxury All-Purpose Laundry Detergent and Le Blanc Linen Wash. These are similar in price and yield of loads per bottle; can be used in both an HE and regular washing machine on any wash cycle; and are intended for all-purpose washing of clothing and linen. Both products are biodegradable and made with no harsh chemicals. However, Heritage Park is made to wash in all temperatures, while Le Blanc is limited to cool water machine washing. Heritage Park also contains cleaning enzymes, specialized stain fighters that are not included in Le Blanc's formula.
Heritage Park Luxury All-Purpose Laundry Detergent, Fragrance-Free
Heritage Park is a liquid detergent made with a proprietary blend of powerful cleaning enzymes to remove dirt and stubborn stains while preserving and restoring the natural beauty of fine linens, delicates, and luxury bedding. Along with being 100% biodegradable and fragrance free, Heritage Park is an independently certified hypoallergenic laundry detergent (AMA Laboratories) that has also been pediatrician and dermatologist tested. It contains no harsh chemicals (sulfates, phosphates, chlorine bleach, or brighteners) and is certified cruelty free with no animal testing by Leaping Bunny. In 2024, Heritage Park Luxury All-Purpose Fragrance-Free Detergent was EWG VERIFIED®; this elite designation indicates that the product meets the Environmental Working Group's strictest criteria for transparency and health. The plant-based ingredients are natural and naturally derived; they are listed on the bottle and website, where they are explained in detail.
- All-temperature laundry wash.
- Biodegradable (safe for grey water and septic systems).
- Certified cruelty free by Leaping Bunny.
- EWG Verified for transparency and safety.
- Proprietary enzyme blend of stain removers
- Third-party tested to be hypoallergenic and dermatologist and pediatrician approved
- No harsh chemicals (dyes, sulfates, phosphates, chlorine bleach, or optical brightener)
Le Blanc Linen Wash
Designed for the laundering of luxury and everyday washable and colorfast linens and apparel. Le Blanc Linen Wash is formulated to protect fibers while preserving the original beauty of fine textiles and apparel. It can be used on washable, colorfast, and organic linens as well as all cottons, synthetics, and blends. This cold-water wash (lukewarm for hand wash or pretreating) has a pleasing flower/fruit/herb scent and is neutral pH. It's 100% biodegradable with no animal testing but no outside certification that we can find. It contains NO cleaning enzymes as well as no bleach, caustics, phosphates, sulfates, or parabens. The ingredients aren't listed on either the website or the bottle, but the website does say that the formula contains organic ingredients; is environmentally safe; is not tested on animals; and is biodegradable.
- Cold-water laundry wash.
- Biodegradable.
- No animal testing (no outside certification).
- NO cleaning enzymes or other stain remover.
- No bleach, caustics, phosphates, sulfates, parabens.
Comparing Performance of Heritage Park vs. Le Blanc
Both Heritage Park and Le Blanc did a good job on our lightly soiled clothing, leaving our items clean and smelling good. However, Le Blanc is formulated for cold-water wash only, which limits its ability to perform on loads that require warm or hot water to wash. Le Blanc also contains no enzymes, which make it less than ideal for washing stained or heavily soiled clothing.
The performance gap between Heritage Park and Le Blanc widens further when it comes to washing towels. While Le Blanc left our towels soft and lightly scented, its cold-water, enzyme-free formula limits its ability to clean heavily soiled towels. Heritage Park leaves towels cleaner, noticeably soft, and smelling fresh (even though the original formula contains no added perfume or scent). This is due to Heritage Park's proprietary blend of enzymes that clean towel fibers while allowing them to retain their innate softness and absorbency even in warm or hot washer temperature.
Other Luxury Detergent Considerations
Heritage Park is certified to be hypoallergenic, and is pediatrician and dermatologist approved for sensitive skin. Neither detergent is tested on animals, but Heritage Park is independently certified to be cruelty free by Leaping Bunny.
- Heritage Park and Le Blanc both effective on lightly soiled, cold-water wash.
- Heritage Park contains cleaning enzymes, Le Blanc does not.
- Enzymes are more effective on soiled laundry and towels.
- Heritage Park can be used in all-temperatures (important when warm/hot water is needed to clean effectively).
- Heritage Park is hypoallergenic and approved for sensitive skin.
- Heritage Park is certified to be cruelty-free and verified by the Environmental Working Group for transparency and safety.

*Liquid laundry soap is preferable to a detergent pod, bar soap, or powder detergent. We also recommend skipping fabric softener, which can cause soap scum to build up on fabric fibers, particularly towels.
