The detergent is made to be gentle on children’s clothing and linens but effectively remove stains including juice, baby formula, food, waste, and more. The formula is pH neutral, biodegradable and allergen free, but with no outside testing; it is also cruelty free but, again, without outside certification.

These concerns are eclipsed by our larger issue with this product, which is its lengthy -- and chemical-filled -- ingredient list. Le Blanc Children’s Laundry Wash contains no natural cleaning enzymes, only chemical compounds. We imagine that a detergent with all these chemicals and cleaning agents would indeed be effective on any stain on baby clothes; our worry is that it absolutely has the potential to irritate a baby’s delicate skin. Moreover, the product contains both fragrance and optical brighteners, both of which can irritate skin and inflame allergies. Perhaps this is less of an issue with older children, but we would be very concerned about using this with babies and toddlers.

Noodle & Boo Ultra-Safe Baby Laundry Detergent

The Noodle & Boo company is a personal care, consumer/cleaning product, and lifestyle/gift brand founded with the mission of producing high-quality natural, holistic care products for children. The brand has extended into Home (candles, diffusers, room spray) and Laundry products.

The Ultra-Safe Baby Laundry Detergent is hypoallergenic and pediatrician tested; biodegradable and plant-based; and dye free. It has a short list of natural ingredients, which we like. However, it contains only two enzymes, which absolutely limits its effectiveness against all the different types of stains babies and toddlers make. Noodle & Boo Ultra-Safe Baby Laundry Detergent also contains fragrance, which is a possible irritant. We are not certain whether it is pH neutral; the company also does not specify any outside specification for its cruelty-free claims. In general, we think this is a good detergent, but it does not contain enough enzymes for us to say it is as effective as it should be.
